CRaNECon25 – Remote Option Details

Our mission for CRaNECon is to bring people together, to learn and share knowledge in a unique conference experience. We want to make it clear that CRaNECon will remain primarily an in-person conference, however, we want to take this opportunity to address the travel restrictions some of our colleagues are facing across the country and internationally.

Over the last few weeks, there has been an increasing number of university-wide non-essential travel restrictions put in place, as well as increasing concerns for international travelers. We want to make this conference accessible to all and representative of the expansive research community we belong to. Because of this, the CRaNE Steering Committee has decided to create a remote conference option available to those whose travel plans have been impacted.

Who does the remote conference option apply to?

Individuals who reside outside of the United States, or reside in the US but are unable to travel due to institute-wide restrictions.

What if I already paid for in-person registration but need to change my registration to remote?

Please email the Steering Committee (cranesc@gatech.edu) to request a refund of your original registration fee. Please resubmit your registration fee payment under the “Remote” registration option through the payment portal.

Are remote attendees able to present at the conference?

Yes. Remote attendees may submit a poster or symposium abstract for presentation like normal. If accepted, posters will be added to a virtual portfolio and shared with all attendees, and symposium presentations will take place live during the conference in a symposium session with the other in-person talks.

Can remote attendees see the presentations and ask questions live during the conference?

Yes. The conference spaces are equipped with remote meeting technology and remote attendees will be able to see and hear the presentation, as well as have their questions be heard in the room.

How will remote attendees be given conference access?

The conference will be run via Zoom and all meetings will be passcode-protected. Furthermore, all remote attendees will be pre-registered and will be required to provide their First Name, Last Name, and Email Address (as listed in their conference registration) to gain access.

Will the conference meetings be recorded and made available for sharing after the conference is over?

No. No meetings or events will be recorded.

Do remote attendees have the option to pay for only one conference day?

No. The registration fee is the same regardless of attendance to one or both days of the conference. Only special circumstances will be considered for partial attendance.
